Getting Here

Nova Scotia is accessible by land, sea or air. See the Nova Scotia Tourism site for full travel information.

By Air:  Halifax Airport is served by direct flights from a number of Canadian cities (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver), US cities (Boston, Philadelphia and Newark), and Europe (London, Paris, Frankfurt). Connecting flights are available from anywhere in North America or Europe.

The Halifax Stanfield International Airport is 65 km (40 miles) from the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus.   There are Maritime Bus scheduled trips from the airport to Truro leaving at 12:45 and 3:50 pm.  Tickets can be purchased at their website, maritimebus.ca, for $14.25 Canadian.  Be sure to allow for 30-60 minutes to clear customs after you arrival. There are also limousine/shuttle service (cost approximately $140 Canadian for up to four passengers).  Send any questions on transportation to the conference e-mail: nargs060823@gmail.com.

Car rentals:  Most of the standard car rental agencies are available at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport.  There is a shortage of rental cars during tourist season.  It is recommended that you book a car rental asap as it cannot be guaranteed that there will be vehicles available close to our conference date.

By Car (and sea): Truro is about 9 ½ hours from Boston, 11 hours from Montreal or 13 hours from New York City by driving on the highway.  If you want an adventure along the way you can take the Bar Harbor Maine to Yarmouth NS catamaran ferry.

Ferries: There are two options for ferries to Nova Scotia.  The CAT ferry from Bar Harbour Maine to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia offers summer service.  There is also Bay Ferries which provides service from New Brunswick to Digby, Nova Scotia.
